One of the most fun things to do on Lake Taal is boating. You can enjoy a half-hour ride across the lake, on one of the traditional Filipino outrigger boats to the village of Talisay on Volcano Island. And did you know that Tawilis can only be found in Taal Lake? Crossing the crater takes about 30 to 60 minutes depending on the wind and wave conditions. Be ready to get wet for a short but bumpy boat ride that will let you see this amazing volcano up close.

Craving a challenge to reach the crater? Then ignore the waiting horses, and go trekking. Hiking up will take at least 40 minutes before you reach the crater, and you’ll pass by volcanic steam vents giving off a sulphuric odour before reaching the summit. There are local guides that will lead the trek up the sometimes steep climb towards the rim, and along sandy trails with incredible views of the surrounding lake and mountains.

If you don’t fancy trekking up the volcano, why not go for horseback riding? Going up to the crater riding a horse will take you about 20 minutes. 

Enjoy the view, take time to taste the fresh air, see the red rocks, and appreciate the abundant nature. You can see the rocks oozing with steam, leaving no doubt that you are really on an active volcano!
